Dear Readers,
We hope that in these testing times, you and your loved ones are safe and well. The entire CADR Team keeps in its thoughts and prayers those who are struggling with this pandemic and those who have lost their lives.
The Third Issue of the Second Volume of the Newsletter is now out.
March has been a sobering month. The entire industry has staggered, but undoubtedly the human cost of the COVID-19 pandemic is disproportionately large.
In this edition, we have sought to bring to the fore news of how the ADR sector has attempted to cope with and traverse the challenges posed by the virus. Social distancing, imperative as it is, prevents parties and counsels from carrying on business as usual. Thus, it is heartening to see that institutions, arbitrators, and mediators worldwide have come up with novel ways to serve disputants.
Read the newsletter to find out about how the domestic, and the international community responds and more!
As always, our focus has been to provide developments in domestic arbitration and mediation which are of import to practitioners in the field. The sections on them will attest to that.
CADR organised the 2nd RGNUL-PACT Sports and Entertainment Law Mediation Competition from 6-8 March, 2020. Playing host to 102 participants and close to 40 practitioners of Mediation, the event delivered a tremendous opportunity to participants and assessors to network. The Competition is the National Qualifier Rounds for the International Mediation Competition (IMC) organised by Singapore International Mediation Institute (SIMI) and to be held in Singapore. We congratulate Mudit Mahajan and Kartik Gupta from Maharashtra National Law University, Mumbai for being the winning negotiating team. Vasundhara Mehta from Symbiosis Law School Pune secured the Best Mediator position. The trio, along with Riya Punamia and Gaurang Samel from Government Law College, Mumbai as the negotiating team and Roshni Mulchandani from NALSAR, Hyderabad as the mediator will be representing India at the Competition in Singapore. We congratulate them, and all the participants.
